Absinthe 2.0 – Troubleshooting

Tom Voitik May 25, 2012 0

If you are having trouble jailbreaking your iDevice on iOS 5.1.1 with Absinthe 2.0.1 hopefully I can help you with this post.  Lets go over a couple things first that maybe you didn’t know.

Absinthe 2.0 only supports iOS 5.1.1  if you try to jailbreak an iDevice that is on 5.1 Absinthe 2.0.1 will say that the device is not supported.

If you are jailbroken tethered on iOS 5.1.1 and are trying to use Absinthe to get an untethered jailbreak there is actually an easier way.  Just open cydia and download Rocky Racoon.  Once installed and rebooted you will now have an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1.

Make sure you have downloaded the up-to-date versions of Absinthe 2.0.1(check the download links at the end of the post)

If you are using the windows version of Absinthe 2.0.1 then you need to right click on the file and got to “run as administrator” to open it.

Use a different USB port (seriuosly).

Make sure you are using the latest iTunes.

If you are trying to restore to 5.1.1 but iTunes does not let you, turn off your iDevice, hold the home button, keep holding the home button and plug it into iTunes.  iTunes will say your device is in recovery mode and prompt you to restore.

Finally, if none of these tips have helped you out then I would recommend using a different computer.  Go to a friends house and try it.
