How To Use Rocky Racoon To Untether Your 5.1.1 Redns0w Jailbreak

A5 users (iPhone 4S, iPad 3, iPad 2) follow our Absinthe 2.0 guide to jailbreak Untethered on iOS 5.1.1

Before today the only jailbreak solution for 5.1.1 was the latest version of redn0w.  However, that jailbreak was tethered and only worked for A4 devices.  With the long awaited release of Absinthe 2.0 today, there is also a solution to convert users on a tethered 5.1.1 to an untethered 5.1.1 jailbreak all through cydia!

This is perfect for iPhone 4/3GS users who are on a tethered version of 5.1.1 and use SAM to unlock their phones.  After installing Rocky Racoon you will still have your iPhone Unlocked with SAM.

Instructions:

Step 1: Open Cydia.

Step 2: Search for Rocky Racoon 5.1.1 Untether and install.

Step 3: Reboot your device and verify that you can reboot without having to perform a tethered boot.

Make sure you don’t ever delete the Rocky Racoon or else you will lose your Untethered Jailbreak.  This method is great for jailbreakers who don’t want to deal with Absinthe 2.0 (even though it’s the easiest jailbreak) and restoring/backing up their iPhones
