Jailbreak iOS 6 Beta 1 With Redsn0w [Windows/Mac]

Tom Voitik June 15, 2012 1

iOS 6 beta 1 has been jailbroken.  However, there are a lot of restrictions.  The biggest restriction is that the jailbreak does not come with cydia.  This is because iOS 6 has broken cydia and will take a long time to get cydia to run on iOS 6.  We can still install jailbreak tweaks through SSH though.  If you need an example of how to do that check out our guide on how to install a jailbreak tweak via SSH (click here).  Also, this jailbreak only supports the iPhone 4, 3GS, and iPod Touch 4th gen.

Step 1.  Download the iOS 6 beta file for your device and redsn0w.

Step 2.  Open redsn0w, click extras, select IPSW, and select the iOS 6.0 firmware for your device.

Step 3.  Then hit back, then jailbreak.  You will be guided to put your device into DFU mode.  Wait for the jailbreak to complete.

Step 4.  Since this is a tethered jailbreak we need to click back.  Click just boot and follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode and wait for a reboot.

You are now jailbroken on iOS 6 beta.  Remember there is no cydia so you need to install jailbreak tweaks like this guide here.
