Soon You Can Downgrade iPhone 3GS 06.15.00 Modem Firmware Baseband

For those of you who don’t know, one of the main ways to unlock any iPhone 3GS is to Flash and update the baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband. This is great for users who want to unlock their iPhones but it does come with a cost. After installing the 06.15.00 baseband you can no longer restore or update through iTunes. You have to create a custom firmware and do a few other steps to update or restore. Also, you can not change that 06.15.00 to a newer baseband.

Recently, famous iOS hacker Musclenerd tweeted that he had been working on the baseband downgrade and that it is almost finished.

What makes this AWESOME is that you will not only be able to get rid of your 06.15.00 baseband but you will aslo be able to downgrade basebands to lower basebands such as the 05.13.04 which is unlockable by ultrasn0w. It gets even better. The 06.15.00 unlock could only be used by 3GS users whos 3rd 4th and 5th digit of their serial number where less than 135. Now every one should be able to downgrade their baseband regardless of serial number. Soon we will never have to use the 06.15.00 baseband again!
